Making a band

As all young people they like to stay up late, go to parties, go after girls and play the guitar that the neighbors have stay up until the morning comes. Lots of us want to be in a band or even make one. I interviewed some band people and asked what are the main things you have to consider by making a band. First of all you have to know what kind of music is in your heart and what kind of music you want to play. Second important thing is to compromise with other band mates. Each person gives his goal and team work is very important. Very important thing is rhythm. To make good nu-metal songs, you have to be able to fantasies, come up with new crazy ideas and be able to put it all together.

Human Ground

Human Ground is a band that has it is origin in Estonia and their self titled album is their debut. The quality of bands coming from that country is getting better and better and that’s emphasized with the release of this album from Human Ground. The reason why the music sounds very professional from the beginning and also artistic should be that almost every member is still or was active in other bands. Only vocalist Pille doesn’t have that experience, but I have to tell you that she has done a very good job on this album. Songs have good structures and quite some interesting and technical riffs without loosing flow. A lot of variation with clean insturmental parts and even an acoustical song with female vocals. Great production and tight musicianship designed to shatter human grounds.

East Trading Wang

This CD released by Nailboard Records has some intrigue inside. First, it’s the second album of the popular Estonian band. They wrote the music for the movie “Little Nicky” by New Line Cinema, where Ozzy once again bit the head of a bat off. East Trading Wang has won a Grand Prix at the International GarageBand.com competition in 2000. And also one little thing - their debut album “Employees Of The Year” 2004 received positive reactions from critics and fans alike. Something promising for those tired of the endless Scandinavian clones in metal.
Heavy, but melodic, the rhythmic structure of the songs are simple and catchy, the creative composing, the melodic lines are held by vocals too - nothing superfluous. You put the CD into the player and start headbanging with the wonderful riff of the opener “No Way”. All in all, if you are a fan of good riffs, this band is for you. The only minus of the album is that you’ll never know what the title means without knowing Estonian, I guess…

LOITS "Ei Kahetse Midagi"

Neither Loits nor Nailboard Records have anything to regret, since the long-awaited re-release of Loits´s debut album with two bonus tracks will soon be available to all. Thus it is again with pleasure that we announce the possibility of pre-ordering. All pre-ordered "Ei Kahetse Midagi" digipaks of Loits will be signed by band members.
Concerning their ideological basis, there is a note that guys had some critics flowing towards the band, and I remember Dangus compilation booklet mentioned their concept that deals with politically incorrect viewpoints, but going through these lyrics I can`t see any heavy proclamations at all.

M: Ibanez SA 160 QM

Ibanez SA 160 QM.
If you like Ibanez and the sound he makes, you have a change to get your very own for very normal price. It is in very good shape. The strings stay also in very good shape for a long time. The good thing about Ibanez guitars are that if you play with it like a maniac the sound will not go down, the sound will get even better. But this is only if you play metal, if you want to play some good jazz or classical also, it would be better if you change the strings.
The guitar is bought two years ago in Estonia. If someone is interested then call 53302734 – Siim. The price is 4000 EEK.

Kloostri Ait

At Saturday I went to see the performance of Michael Manring in Kloostri Ait. Surprisingly the show was free and there was nothing to do also in that evening. I remember one time I went to see the performance of Rauno Pehka in the same place. The great thing about Kloostri Ait is that the place is very comfortable, nice tables, a good bar with good food and drinks, but the worst thing is that there is never no place to sit in there. Even if you come one hour earlier there is still no place to sit. All the time there is some other people sitting and eating, they are not there for the show, but to talk about their own business or some other things. Next if there is some good performance in Kloostri Ait I prefer to go there 2 hours earlier and order some drinks or food.

Beware heavy listeners, the good old magazine Pläkk is back. The hardest Estonian magazine will start to produce once again with only the best news, stories and articles.Pläkk`s fifth issue includes interview’s Human Ground, Surrogoat, Bestia, Herald, Mortophilia, Raud-Ants. There is also lots of text about the history of Estonian metal and the bands. Lots and lots of criticism, a little too much for me, but this also the one thing that makes this magazine a little more special
